Florida Adds Seven Amendments to the 2012 Election Ballot
During the legislative session this year lawmakers passed 7 amendments
that will be send to the voters in 2012, The 2012 Ballot
will include pro-life legislation to taxes to health care to judicial
reform.
Religious Freedom Amendment (Blaine Amendment) on the Ballot
ACLU is Challenging Blaine Amendment
This
bill eliminates the antiquated provision contained in Article 1,
Section 3 that prohibits public money being used to directly or
indirectly aid a religious institution. This language in commonly
referred to as the Blaine Amendment and was adopted many years ago by
those who many argue were motivated by Catholic bigotry.
This prohibition has led to lawsuits against
faith based substance abuse facilities that receive state funds. This joint
resolution would allow Florida voters to decide if this discriminatory language
should remain enshrined in our Constitution. Any group providing services for
the state should not be discriminated against merely because they are faith
based. Voters will have a chance to vote on this amendment in 2012.
A bill to prevent taxpayer funds to perform abortions. This bill would give voters in Florida
the opportunity to put that prohibition into the Constitution so no judge could
ever overturn it.
The resolution also limits the right to abortion in the state constitution to
be no broader than the right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution. The Florida
Supreme Court has ruled that the right to privacy in the state constitution
confers broader rights to an abortion than that in the U.S. Constitution.

invitation to pick up a Bible and read it. Moments later, Bob's eyes fell on the
Bible's most familiar verse: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him."

There are at least 33 Senate Seats up for Election in 2012 An early look at the
2012 landscape shows Democratic incumbents are the most vulnerable
heading into the next cycle, with double the number of Democrats on the
ballot as Republicans.
Among these candidats is our own Florida Senate Leader, Bill Nelson who
will more than likely run for re-election. Among the
possibilities of candidates likely to run for election are:
Senator LeMieux, Republican Reps. Connie Mack IV, Vern Buchanan and Tom
Rooney also are on the bench. Buchanan and Rooney could be self-funders
should they run, making them more appealing to the state party.
And lastly, a dark horse could appear. A peek

PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENE PRIMARY (TEMPORARILY SCHEDULED DATE) SUBJECT TO CHANGE -1/31/2012
Texas governor Rick Perry has quickly vaulted to
the top of the Republican presidential race and he now faces questions from
pro-life advocates about what he would do as president. One news report says
Perry has answered one question by saying he would name a pro-life Vice
President.
Issues to Watch:
Faith
Governor Perry appears at Liberty University and explains how he came to Faith in Christ Perry speaks about his Faith at Liberty University Marriage - Perry signed Senate Bill 6, the Defense of Marriage Act, specifying that Texas
does not legally recognize a same-sex marriage or civil union. Two years later,
Gov. Perry supported strengthening the law with a constitutional amendment, the
Texas Marriage Amendment, defining marriage as the “union of one man and one
woman.” It was approved by Texas voters in November 2005. DOMA
Abortion - The National Right to Life the governor's position on abortion couldn't be any more in line with National Right to Life - Perry on Abortions
In May, Gov. Rick Perry enthusiastically signed a bill that will
require doctors performing abortions to conduct a sonogram of the fetus
and describe it in detail to the mother. Women seeking abortions must
then wait 24 hours before having the abortion performed, unless they
live more than 100 miles away from the nearest clinic, in which case
the waiting period is two hours. Exemptions to the law are provided in
cases of rape or incest, medical emergency or in the case of fetal
abnormality or defect.
In 2005 Perry signed Parental Notification -Parental Notification
Healthcare - HPV - In 2007, Florida tried to pass a bill
similiar to the one that Perry passed in Texas. The bill was
quickly opposed by Christian Coalition of Florida and defeated by
conservatives and pro-life organizations. "We believe this sends a wrong message to children and teens and that the marriage bed shall not be defiled". It should be reserved for marriage.
This bill gives children an easy out. Senator Michele
Bauchman also opposes HPV inoculations for children and
teens. We believe you a putting a band-aid on a problem that is
much deeper. Perry supports HPV injection for youth
Health Care
Immigration - Does not support building a Fence. Stance on Immigration and Border Security But his latest talking points also include opposition to amnesty and to a
national Dream Act, which would provide a path to legal residency for some
children living in the country illegally. Immigration Education - Early
in his time as governor, Perry even signed into law a bill with broad
bipartisan support that allows undocumented students who have lived in
the state for more than five years to receive in-state tuition Education and Immigration
Perry and Hispanics
Texas has a large Hispanic population of children in Public
Schools. Perry reduced the funding for public school education, Redistricting - Reduced the number of Hispanic majority seats..
And while Latino growth accounted for two-thirds of the state's population
gains between 2000 and 2010, Perry signed a redistricting bill that undermines
the voting strength of Latinos. Of the four congressional seats gained by Texas
because of population growth, no new seats were drawn so that Latinos could
elect a candidate of their choice. In the Texas House map, things got worse.
Instead of increasing the number of Hispanic majority seats by as many as five —
as was suggested in various demonstration maps — Perry signed a bill that
actually reduced the number by one. SOC - 76 percent of Florida voters opposed cuts to Social Security to lower the
deficit. Perry and SOC

legislation.”

Embryonic stem cell research Not in favor.
“Altered nuclear transfer creates embryo-like cells that can be used
for stem cell research ... I have a deep concern about curing disease.
I have a wife that has a serious disease that could be affected by stem
cell research and others. But I will not create new embryos through
cloning or through embryo farming, because that will be creating life
for the purpose of destroying it.”

Marriage
I’ve been in a state that has gay marriage, and I recognize that
the consequences of gay marriage fall far beyond just the relationship between a
man and a woman. They also relate to our kids and the right of religion to be
practiced freely in a society.
The status of marriage, if it’s allowed among the same sex individuals in one
state is going to spread to the entire nation. And that’s why it’s important to
have a national standard for marriage. And I’m committed to making sure that we
reinforce the institution of marriage in this country by insisting that all
states have a right to have marriage as defined as between a man and a woman;
and we don’t have unelected judges saying we’re going to impose same-sex
marriage where it was clearly not in their state constitution.
My state’s constitution was written by John Adams. It isn’t there. I’ve
looked. The people need to speak on this issue and make sure that marriage is
preserved as between a man and a woman. - GOP Primary Debate 2007

U.S. Senator George LeMieux
We all know that the Seminoles passed more than $1 million to the Republican Party of Florida
during negotiations, $350,000 of which ended up in the pockets of “pro-bono”
negotiator LeMieux, passed to the lawyer through a corporation that does not
bear his name.
